About Acelya Sarioglu

Psychology, accessible.

Acelya is a qualified psychologist working in private practice at MHW Clinic. Her clinical work focuses on the kinds of psychological difficulties that don't always need consultant-level psychiatric input but benefit from structured, evidence-based therapy — the gap that GP-led services often can't fill.

Her approach is integrative, drawing on cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) and other evidence-based modalities, adapted to what the client is bringing. Sessions are 50 minutes; courses of work are agreed openly at the start and reviewed periodically.

She speaks English and Turkish. Many of her clients prefer to work in Turkish, particularly when the issues involve family dynamics, generational concerns, or cultural identity — the conversations that work better in your first language.

What they see

Clinical focus.

The range of work this clinician does at the clinic. Some appointments are routine; some sit at the boundary of where a specialist referral is needed, and we'll say so.

Anxiety & stress

Work-related stress, anxiety disorders, panic, social anxiety, performance anxiety. Practical CBT-based work alongside the deeper exploration that some clients need.

Low mood & depression

Mild to moderate depression, persistent low mood, motivation problems, behavioural activation work. Onward referral to psychiatry if medication assessment is indicated.

Relationship difficulties

Difficulties with partners, family members, work relationships. Individual therapy work on the patterns and beliefs that play out in close relationships.

Self-esteem & identity

Confidence and self-worth work, identity-related concerns, perfectionism, imposter feelings. Useful for many high-functioning clients who don't meet criteria for a clinical diagnosis but want focused therapeutic support.

Life transitions & adjustment

Career changes, relationship endings, becoming a parent, bereavement, migration-related adjustment. Therapy can be the right space to work through transitions rather than push through them alone.

Therapy in Turkish

Sessions in Turkish for first-language Turkish-speaking clients. Particularly useful for the kinds of work that involves family, culture, identity, or growing up bilingual.

Follow-up

Results from on-site tests are typically back within 24–48 hours via TDL (our laboratory partner). Follow-up consultations are scheduled to discuss results, refine treatment, or make onward referrals. With your consent, we write to your NHS GP so your record stays joined-up.

Onward referrals
