What Does the Medical Assessment Involve?
Our taxi medicals and DVLA group 2 medicals meet all DVLA and licensing authority standards, ensuring each driver is fit to hold a license. Here’s what the assessment typically includes:
1- Full Medical History Review
We’ll review your comprehensive medical history, including any past or current conditions that may impact your ability to drive, such as heart disease, diabetes, epilepsy, or psychiatric disorders. Please bring a copy of your full medical records, as this is required to complete the assessment accurately.
2- Vision Test
We’ll assess your eyesight to ensure it meets the required standards, including visual acuity and peripheral vision. If you wear glasses or contact lenses, please bring them along for the test.
3- Blood Pressure Check
High blood pressure can increase the risk of cardiovascular issues that may impair driving. We’ll check your blood pressure to ensure it is within a safe range.
4- Neurological Assessment
Conditions such as epilepsy or seizures can pose a risk to driving. Our GPs will conduct a neurological assessment and discuss any relevant history to confirm that these are well managed.
5- Diabetes Screening
For drivers with diabetes, we’ll review your condition to confirm good blood sugar control and minimize the risk of hypoglycemia while driving.
6- Cardiovascular Health Check
Our assessment includes a review of any cardiovascular issues, such as a history of heart disease or angina, to ensure your heart health meets the required standards.
7- Mental Health and Substance Use Review
We assess mental health and substance use, including alcohol and drug dependency, to ensure they do not impact safe driving.
8- Musculoskeletal Assessment
Our GPs will evaluate any musculoskeletal issues that might impair your ability to operate vehicle controls safely.
9- Other Health Assessments
Additional assessments, such as hearing tests, may be conducted as needed, based on DVLA requirements or individual medical history.
