Why we do this

Because flying blind is expensive.

Every week we see patients who have already paid a deposit on an Istanbul, Turkey or Eastern European hair transplant package — and have questions they didn’t feel comfortable asking the clinic that sold it to them.

Is the graft count realistic? Some clinics quote 4,000 or 5,000 grafts for hairlines where 2,500 would be sufficient — or insufficient.

Are FUE and DHI being used appropriately? Marketing names matter less than who actually performs the extraction and implantation, and how.

Is the price fair? Some packages are excellent value. Others are not.

Is the clinic reputable? Turkey has world-leading hair transplant clinics. It also has clinics that should be avoided. The same is true of every country, including the UK.

We’d rather you go to a good clinic abroad than a bad one — even if it costs us a patient. That’s the point of this service.

A doctor — not a salesperson.

Your second opinion is handled personally by one of three GMC-registered doctors, all of whom work within our hair transplant team. They have nothing to gain from telling you your Istanbul quote is bad if it isn’t.

What we’ll review

An honest look at five things.

Graft count

Is the quoted number of grafts appropriate for your degree of hair loss? Could you achieve your goal with fewer? Will the count actually deliver what they’ve promised?

Technique

Is the FUE/DHI mix appropriate? Who actually performs the extraction — the named surgeon, or a technician? What does “Sapphire FUE” or “robotic” actually mean for your case?

Pricing

How does the quote compare to market rates — in Turkey, the UK, and other European countries? Are there hidden costs (PRP, medications, additional sessions) you should expect?

The clinic itself

Reputation, regulation, and red flags. We won’t name competitors unless asked, but we’ll tell you if a clinic appears on any reputable warning list.

Aftercare reality

What happens at 6, 12 and 18 months? Who do you contact if a graft fails to take or scarring is unusual? What does the clinic actually offer once the procedure is over?

Being clear about what this is — and isn’t

What this isn’t.

So you know what you’re getting:

  • It’s not a full medical consultation. A second opinion is a focused review of an existing quote. If you want a full hair loss diagnosis, examination and treatment plan, that’s a separate (paid) consultation — though we’ll tell you if we think you need one.
  • We can’t guarantee an outcome. Neither can the clinic that quoted you. We’ll give you an honest, professional opinion based on the information you share — not a promise.
  • We’re not a regulator. If you have a complaint about a clinic that has already treated you, we’ll point you to the right place (CQC, GMC, or the equivalent in their country). We won’t investigate on your behalf.
  • We won’t pressure you to use our clinic. If your Istanbul quote is genuinely good, we’ll tell you so. If you’d be better served elsewhere in the UK, we’ll say that too. This is the whole point.

Your information stays with us.

The quote, photos and details you share with us are confidential. We don’t share them with the clinic that quoted you, we don’t store them in any marketing database, and we delete them after 90 days unless you proceed to a consultation. Full details in our Privacy Policy.

Before you ask —

Is it really free?

Yes. There’s no fee, no deposit, no hidden charge, and no requirement to book anything else with us. We charge our regular fees only if you choose to proceed to a full consultation or treatment.

Why would you offer this for free?

Honestly? Because a small percentage of patients who get a second opinion choose to have their procedure with us instead. It’s a marketing investment with a clinical purpose: we’d rather you make an informed decision than fly to the wrong clinic. Even patients who go ahead with their Istanbul booking sometimes return to us for aftercare or future procedures.

What if my Istanbul clinic is excellent?

We’ll tell you. Turkey has some of the world’s leading hair restoration clinics — many of our own clinicians trained there, or alongside Turkish surgeons. If your quote looks solid, we’ll say so, suggest what to confirm before flying, and wish you well.

What if I’ve already paid a deposit?

We’ll still review your quote — whether you’ve paid £100 or £2,000. If there are genuine concerns, we’ll outline them clearly so you can have an informed conversation with the clinic about refund or rescheduling. We’ll never tell you to demand a refund unless we believe the case warrants it.

What do I need to send you?

Ideally: the clinic’s written quote (PDF or screenshot), the suggested graft count and technique, the proposed date, and 3-5 photos of your hair — front, sides, top, and back, in good natural light. If you don’t have photos yet, that’s fine — we’ll review what you have.

Will you contact the clinic that quoted me?

No, never. Your enquiry is confidential. We don’t share your information with any third party.

Can I get a second opinion on a UK clinic’s quote?

Yes. The service is most often used for Istanbul quotes, but we’ll review any hair transplant quote — including from other UK clinics or European providers.

How long until I get a response?

Written reviews: 2-3 working days from receiving your quote and photos. Video calls: scheduled within 5 working days, at a time that suits you. If your decision is time-sensitive (e.g. flight booked next week), tell us in your first message and we’ll prioritise.
